Philadelphia Junior Tour – ADA Accommodation Policy
Purpose
The Philadelphia Junior Tour is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all participants, including those with disabilities. This policy outlines how we accommodate players with permanent physical impairments—in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
General Philosophy
We recognize that some players with physical disabilities are fully capable of walking during play but may occasionally need assistance due to course conditions, fatigue, or medical concerns. Our policy allows reasonable flexibility while maintaining the integrity and fairness of competition.
Eligibility & Approval
- Players with a permanent physical disability may submit a one-time ADA Accommodation Request Form.
- Once approved, the accommodation applies to all future Philadelphia Junior Tour events, unless circumstances change or abuse of the accommodation is observed.
- Documentation of disability (e.g., physician’s letter or disability placard) must be submitted only once, and updated if any significant change occurs.
Cart Use Guidelines
- Approved players may walk and push their clubs at their discretion.
- If the player becomes unable to continue walking due to fatigue or pain, or in the case of a course that does not permit push carts, a spectator (e.g., parent or guardian) may drive a golf cart with the player as a passenger.
- The cart must be used only for mobility and not to gain competitive advantage (e.g., driving ahead to scout shots or provide advice).
Cart Rules
- Carts must stay on paths when paths are present near tees and greens.
- Only the approved player and designated spectator/driver may ride in the cart.
- Carts may not be used in team or shared formats unless each rider is individually approved.
Special Circumstances
If a course has specific rules (e.g., no push carts, hilly terrain), the player or parent should notify the Tournament Director in advance so an accommodation can be made. No additional approval is necessary beyond the initial one-time submission.
Oversight & Fairness
- The goal of this policy is inclusion, not restriction. Abuse of the accommodation (e.g., unnecessary cart usage, multiple riders, or pace-of-play violations) may result in a review.
- Tournament officials will use discretion and compassion when interpreting this policy.
